France Wants to be Able to Give Booster Shots Faster
French people should be able to receive their booster shot three months after full vaccination, recommends the French health authority HAS, the French RIVM, on Friday.
Young people between the ages of 12 and 17 who belong to a risk group should also receive a booster shot, according to a recommendation from the HAS.
France is struggling with a strong revival of the coronavirus. On Thursday, almost 92,000 infections were detected in the country in 24 hours. That was the highest number since the start of the pandemic.
President Emmanuel Macron hopes to turn the tide with a booster campaign. 22 million to 23 million French must have received their booster by Christmas. Up to Wednesday, 20 million people had received a booster shot.
