Apple would also like to provide the first model later this year with a new chip that allows activation of smart assistant Siri via voice control.
To be able to use Siri, AirPods carriers must now tap twice on one of the two wireless earplugs.
Bloomberg also states that Apple is still working on a wireless charging box for the AirPods.
According to the sources of Bloomberg next year, Apple wants to release a pair of new AirPods under its brand.
The headphones would be more expensive in the market than the products of subsidiary Beats.
