German Tesla Sales Plummet Again
Tesla’s sales in Germany plummeted again in April, while the German market for electric cars grew considerably. According to the German transport authority BKA, sales fell by 46 percent annually to just 885 Teslas.
Tesla’s sales in Germany also saw sharp declines in previous months. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been heavily criticised for his enormous government cutbacks for US President Donald Trump, which mass layoffs have accompanied.
Musk has also come under fire in Germany for his support for the far-right party AfD in the parliamentary elections in February. German Teslas have also been damaged by alleged arson.
On the other hand, sales of fully electric cars in Germany grew by more than 53 percent last month, to a market share of almost 19 percent. For example, many more electric vehicles from the Chinese brand BYD were sold.
