London Will Respond at the Appropriate Time to EU Letter
The UK government will respond at an “appropriate time” to the European Commission’s legal action against the UK.
A spokesperson for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said this in response to the announcement by the chairman of the committee Ursula von der Leyen.
The reason for the steps is a Brexit law that the British want to pass that goes against the agreements on Northern Ireland in the withdrawal agreement that the United Kingdom and the EU agreed.
“We have clearly stated the reasons for the measures related to the protocol for Northern Ireland,” said the spokesman.
“We need to create a legal safety net to protect the truthfulness of the UK’s internal market.” The new law would also be necessary to protect peace in Northern Ireland.
