NATO is Tightening Ties With Ukraine Even Further
NATO is tightening ties with Ukraine even further.
The treaty organization announced on its site on Friday that Ukraine, which has already provided troops for NATO missions in Afghanistan and Kosovo, is now known as an ‘Enhanced Opportunities Partner’ (EOP).
This increases Kiev’s ability to participate in NATO manoeuvres and collaborative projects.
In addition, the former Soviet state, which has been at odds with Russia for years, will gain access to more classified information from the alliance.
Australia, Finland, Georgia, Jordan and Sweden preceded Ukraine as countries with EOP status.
The partners have a tailored relationship with NATO. The starting point is mutual interest.
