“Tesla Wants to Build a large factory just across the German Border.” Car manufacturer Tesla seems to want to build its first European Gigafactory in north-west Germany.

 

The car manufacturer is said to be interested in setting up that factory in Emden in Lower Saxony, according to the reports.

Emden is opposite Delfzijl on the other side of the Dollard.

Earlier, Groningen tried to persuade Tesla to build the factory in that province.

Emden is not the only location that Tesla would have in mind.

A location further upstream on the Eems is also being considered.

Also, reported that Elon Musk’s company visited the locations together with representatives from the state.

European Gigafactory
Tesla was originally to announce a location for a European Gigafactory in 2017, but that did not happen.

Last year, Musk already stated that Germany was a leader in bringing in such a large car factory.

Tesla already has two Gigafactorys in the US for the production of lithium-ion batteries and solar cells.

Tesla is building its third Gigafactory near the Chinese city of Shanghai.

Tesla has had an assembly plant and distribution centre in Tilburg since 2013.
