The German States Agree on Relaxation Around Holidays
The sixteen German states have agreed on a temporary relaxation of the corona rules around the holidays.
This means that between December 23 and January 1, Germans may receive a maximum of ten guests from outside the family and not from any other household. The restriction does not cover children under the age of 14.
This is stated in a proposal that the federal states are discussing with Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday, according to German media. Typically, the government makes the proposals in the weekly consultation. In this case, the initiative has been placed with the federal states.
Germany was partially locked up for a month in early November to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
The catering industry had to close, and a maximum of ten people from two households are allowed to visit each other. Schools and shops, on the other hand, could remain open. The restrictions are now starting to bear fruit, but there is certainly no turning point yet.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the German counterpart of the RIVM, reported on Tuesday morning that the lung virus was diagnosed in 13,554 people in the last 24 hours. That was a small increase in growth after a few days of decline.
