Donald Trump Cancels Press Conference on Crime of the Century

Trump Awaits Possibly the Shortest Impeachment Trial in History

Former US President Donald Trump may hear this week whether he is guilty of instigating an uprising. The trial that begins Tuesday in the Senate may be completed within days.

Senators are then expected to acquit Trump for the second time.

Trump’s trial follows the storming of the Capitol in January. After a speech by the then president, an angry crowd moved to that parliament building in Washington, where politicians were busy approving Democrat Joe Biden’s election victory.

Trump supporters overran the police and forced their way into the building. Five people were killed.

The prosecution of Trump after the deadly riots can be called historic for several reasons. Trump was the only president to face impeachment proceedings twice.

He also goes down in history as the first former president to be prosecuted by Congress.
