Western Countries Condemn Iranian Threats to IAEA Chief
France, Germany and the United Kingdom have condemned the Iranian “threats” to IAEA chief Rafael Grossi in a joint statement.
An Iranian newspaper called for the nuclear watchdog’s top man to be killed, after the government in Tehran accused him of acting in the interests of Israel.
Grossi has been at odds with Iran for years over that country’s nuclear program. He has tried to monitor developments to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon, but has been thwarted in his efforts.
Now, the IAEA chief has called for access to the bombed atomic facilities, but Iran has refused.
Iran ended cooperation with the IAEA last week due to dissatisfaction with the international watchdog’s actions. The government also says it can no longer guarantee the safety of IAEA inspectors.
