Bloomberg: Beijing Only Wants Chinese-Made Computers
All Chinese government and state-owned computers must be domestically manufactured within two years. Beijing demands that sources tell Bloomberg news agency.
The central government alone will eventually have to replace at least 50 million computers.
That will affect the sales of computer manufacturers HP and Dell. These American companies are the largest sellers of PCs in the country after the Chinese Lenovo.
It is a new part of China’s long-standing policy to replace imported technology with local alternatives. This means that chips, telephones and network equipment must also be produced in China.
In addition, local software companies are also preferred over programs from Microsoft and Adobe.
