Lukashenko: Sheep Protesters Under Foreign Control
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Monday called opposition supporters “sheep” brought in from abroad.
The protesters protested en masse against the disputed presidential election that gave Lukashenko a sixth term.
Lukashenko said authorities monitored those who took part in the protests on Sunday evening.
“We recorded calls from abroad. Phone calls came from Poland, Great Britain and the Czech Republic, sending our – forgive me – sheep,” Lukashenko told the head of an observer delegation from the former Soviet Union, state news agency Belta reported.
The leader of Belarus swore he would not allow the country to be “torn apart”.
