Ryanair Demands Pay Sacrifice From French Personnel
Ryanair would require personnel in France to hand in 10 to 20 percent of their wages to help lead the Irish price fighter through the corona crisis.
If staff refuse the gesture, dismissal may follow. Unions speak of blackmail. The French television station BFM reports on the matter.
According to the report of BFM, the highest wages are a salary discount of 20 percent. The least earners are concerned with handing in at least 10 percent of the salary.
In case of refusal, 23 out of 81 Ryanair pilots and 27 out of 160 cabin crew in France could lose their jobs.
According to the plans, employees would have to do with lower wages for five years. Wages would then be increased again. Furthermore, the wages of hired pilots will be reduced.
Unions in France reacted dividedly to the plans.
Pilot union SNPL is said to have accepted the performance agreement pending better times. The association is said to have received a promise that Ryanair will not fire any personnel.
