Saudi Arabian Women are Allowed to Drive Officially

Saudi Arabian Women are Allowed to Drive Officially. In Saudi Arabia, the ban on driving a car has been lifted. A royal decree took effect on Sunday at midnight local time. King Salman announced the measure in September 2017.

Accoring to the Fortune News, Saudi Arabia was the isolated country in the world that forbade women to get behind the wheel.

The ultra-conservative Muslim country is now pursuing a series of reforms that allow women to participate more in economic and social life.

For example, women can now also start a business and attend football matches or concerts.

Yet women are still being oppressed by a system of male custody. They need permission from a man within their family to travel, study or practice certain professions.
