Four days after the first positive corona test at the Ugandan delegation, which arrived in Tokyo on Saturday, the organizers of the Olympic Games in the Japanese capital announced on Wednesday that a second Ugandan tested positive for covid-19.

On Saturday, the Ugandan delegation arrived at Narita Airport near Tokyo. In tests at the airport, one member of the delegation, a trainer, tested positive. However, all Ugandans had been pre-vaccinated and had a recent negative test.

The other eight delegation members were quarantined at their residence in Izumisano (Osaka) until July 3 and were tested regularly. That brought to light a new infection on Wednesday. It is currently unknown who it is.

Uganda was the second country to arrive in Tokyo a month before the Games. The Australian women’s softball team also travelled earlier. Ugandans will compete in boxing, weightlifting and swimming at the Games.
