Switzerland and Spain Close Border for Visitors
Switzerland and Spain are closing their borders to visitors in the fight against the new coronavirus. In Switzerland, people who live there or come to do business are allowed to cross the border.
People and goods passing through the Alpine country are also allowed to do so. The country has cancelled all events with immediate effect.
More and more countries in Europe are taking increasingly strict measures. Spain also closes borders for people who don’t live there.
People who work in Spain, but do not live there, are allowed to cross the border, just like people who have to go to Spain for urgent reasons. Traffic by plane or train between Portugal and Spain will be stopped as of Tuesday. The measure will last until April 15.
In Portugal, a patient has died from the effects of the new virus for the first time, authorities report.
