Patch Tuesday May Crash Windows 10

Upgrading to Windows 11 Fails for IE11 Users

Those who still have Internet Explorer 11 on their computer will not be able to upgrade to Windows 11. Microsoft is blocking the upgrade for fear of data loss.

Internet Explorer 11 has been staggering towards the end for a while now. The browser disappears typically in June of this year. However, those who still use it will not get an upgrade to Windows 11.

Microsoft explains that the measure has to do with a bug. As a result, stored data in Internet Explorer 11 would no longer be usable after upgrading from Windows 10 to 11.

You can bypass the blocking by switching to a browser that is not retired. For example, Microsoft recommends importing IE11 data into the Edge browser.

The blocking would only happen to users who frequently surf with IE11 or use it as their default browser. The tech giant also says it is working on fixing the bug.
