Employee Working Detention Centres for Migrants in the US Infected With Corona
More than 930 private company employees working in U.S. immigration detention centres have tested positive for the coronavirus.
Executives of those companies have said that to Congress.
The executives of the four companies responsible for detention in a contract with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Service ICE have confirmed the infections.
The ICE itself reported 45 corona infections among workers.
Legislators have expressed concerns about the spread of the coronavirus within the country’s nearly 70 detention centres. More than 3,000 immigrants have been infected with the virus.
Two immigrants in detention died from the effects of Covid-19. There are currently over 22,000 immigrants in detention centres.
