Apple CEO Tim Cook Speaks Out About Racism

Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, speaks in an open letter about the death of George Floyd and racism in American society. “For the black community: we see you.

You matter, and your lives matter. “

The open letter is prominently placed on the front page of the American tech company’s website. In the letter, Cook writes, among other things, that the demonstrations following Floyd’s death are justified because his death is “meaningless, tragic and shocking.”

He writes about racism that is visible not only in violence, but also in the legal system, the disproportionate impact of black communities on disease and the effects of climate change, and that their children have structurally less access to a good education.

According to Cook, Apple’s mission is to create technology that allows people to improve the world, but that they should “do more” than just that.

He says the company is donating money to organizations such as the Equal Justice Initiative. This foundation fights against the injustice and mass imprisonment of the black population of the United States.

The CEO did not disclose how much money Apple donates.
