At least 15 security forces have died in northern Afghanistan in an attack by suspected Taliban fighters.
Seventeen others were injured in the attack in the northern province of Balch.
The Taliban have stepped up their attacks in recent weeks, despite reaching an agreement with the US on prisoner exchanges.
The flared violence has killed tens of Afghan security forces.
A call from the US envoy to Afghanistan for an armistice has also not helped.
Zalmay Khalilzad wanted a ceasefire to improve the country’s ability to take action against the coronavirus.
