Brazil Reports A Record Number of New Corona Infections
Brazil has reported the most significant increase in corona infections since the onset of the epidemic. Another 67,860 people have been diagnosed with the infection, the Ministry of Health reports.
In the largest country in South America, a total of 2.2 million infections have already been detected.
The actual number of corona cases in Brazil’s 210 million population is likely to be much higher because not everyone is tested with the virus. The death toll stands at over 82,000.
One of the patients is President Jair Bolsonaro, who previously dismissed the virus as a “flu”. He was hesitant about measures to prevent spreading because he feared significant economic damage.
Bolsonaro, 65, was tested positive for the virus earlier this month. He would be doing relatively well.
He does not have a fever according to CNN Brazil, and his breathing, heart rate and blood pressure are said to be healthy.
