Joe Biden Bans New Oil and Gas Drilling in US Waters
US President Joe Biden announced on Monday that he is banning new oil and gas drilling in large parts of US waters.
This involves new offshore drilling in the American parts of the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and the eastern part of the Gulf of Mexico, totalling 2.5 million square kilometres of sea.
The decision comes days before he hands over power to new President Donald Trump, who has strongly advocated new oil and gas drilling.
