Microsoft Wants Trump to Take Tougher Action Against Cyber Attacks
Microsoft boss Brad Smith is asking the incoming US president to “take tougher action” against cyber attacks from China and Russia.
He said this in an interview with the financial newspaper The Financial Times. Smith is Microsoft’s president and vice chairman and its primary legal representative. For example, when the European Commission investigated Microsoft for its takeover of Activision-Blizzard, he had to go to Brussels.
Now, he’s asking the incoming Trump administration to send a strong message on cybersecurity, specifically regarding attacks from China and Russia.
Smith says that current President Joe Biden has made a lot of progress but that attacks from China, Iran and Russia still need to be addressed more effectively to have a deterrent effect.
