Apple will Sell About 1.5 Million AR/VR Glasses Next Year

It’s an open secret that Apple is working on an AR/VR headset. The gadget could be on the market in January, but due to the high price, it probably won’t be a sales success right away.

However, a renowned analyst expects that by 2023, at most, one and a half million copies will be sold.

With an expected price tag of about two thousand dollars, the fruit brand’s future AR/VR headset is instead a niche product. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, therefore, expects no more than one and a half million copies sold in the first year, reports tech site MacRumors. That is, of course, nothing, but it is a pittance compared to the 240 million iPhones that Apple managed to sell in 2021.

Apple’s AR/VR headset was reportedly presented to the company’s board of directors in May. That would mean that the device is almost ready and that the glasses’ problems earlier this year are gone. In January, financial news agency Bloomberg reported that Apple was struggling with the headset’s software and camera and overheating issues.

The AR/VR headset is expected to get two 4K micro-OLED screens, more than a dozen camera modules, eye tracking capabilities, spatial audio, and support for hand gestures. The power source may be the same M1 Pro chip found in select Apple MacBook Pro laptops.

Meanwhile, the American tech giant is already working on the second-generation high-end headset. According to analyst Kuo, these would be on the market in 2025, with a more affordable version of the glasses.
