Rules Remain in Place During the UK Corona Vaccination Campaign

Even now that the first British have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, the rules remain in place to comprise the spread of the virus. “The virus is still deadly.

We must obey the rules while spreading the vaccine,” said Health Minister Matt Hankock to the BBC.

For the first people who receive the injection, it appears to be not entirely clear what this means for their freedom of movement. 86-year-old Gill Rogers receives the first vaccination on Tuesday afternoon. Her husband died in April from the effects of the coronavirus.

“I’m not sure what will change, because other people haven’t had a shot yet and I haven’t figured out what difference it makes.” Still, she hopes to enjoy some more freedom.

“I won’t be so careful anymore, so worried. I can go shopping more, and with a little luck I can use public transport.”

The vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech is administered twice. Twelve days after the first shot, immunity to the virus begins to build up.

Three weeks after the first dose, the second is injected, after which it takes another week for complete immunity to be achieved. According to the makers, the injection is 95 percent effective.
