Governor and Police Chief of Afghan Province Disappeared

Read Time:47 Second

Since the Taliban took power, the former governor of the Afghan province of Laghman and the former police chief of the same province have disappeared.

Relatives of the missing tell the Afghan channel TOLOnews that they have not been seen since they surrendered to the Taliban. The police chief of the city of Ghazni, in the province of the same name, has not been seen since he surrendered.

Former governor Abdul Wali Wahidzai and former police chief Lotfullah Kamram surrendered five days ago. Their families have not heard from them since. Police chief Mohammad Hashem Ghalji is also missing. Presumably, the Taliban is still holding them captive. It’s unclear why.

The Taliban announced a general amnesty for government employees on Tuesday. “You can safely resume your normal life and get back to work,” the extremist group said. However, relatives of the governor and police chiefs are now accusing the Taliban of not adhering to the agreements.
