President Xi Believes in A Successful Beijing Winter Games

Chinese President Xi Jinping is convinced that next year’s Winter Games in Beijing will be a great success. Chinese state media reported this on Tuesday after Xi visited some Olympic accommodations.

“China will host a successful Olympic and Paralympic Games that will help us become a sporting powerhouse,” the president was quoted as saying.

The Winter Games are scheduled for February 4-20 with Beijing becoming the first city to host both the Summer and Winter Games.

Xi was pleased with the progress and pleased that Chinese winter sports fans show good performances a year before the Games.

He didn’t say a word about the corona pandemic, although some properties are located outside Beijing in Hebei Province, where the worst outbreak has been reported in months. This has led to strict measures for millions of people in the area.

In 2008 the Olympic Games were also in Beijing.
